Living in the Desert…

There are many pros and cons about living in the desert.  Cons – the heat.  Good grief, the heat!  However, to balance that out, you can find undeniable beauty.  For instance, this spineless prickly pear.  (Which, by the way, last summer I made prickly pear jelly out of the pears.  It was delicious!)

This picture’s shutter speed was 1/100, f-stop at 3.5. My focal length was 50mm.

Making the Jump

Filed under: Through Tam's Eyes — Written by TamP on Tuesday, April 27th, 2010 @ 9:11 am

I have talked and talked about starting my own photography business.  Life kept getting in the way but, with a LOT of encouragement from my husband, I am finally going to make that jump.  And pray that I don’t fall in the middle of that canyon.

I have several things on my to-do list before I open for business.

  • Update this blog/website
  • Get an account with a professional printing lab DONE!
  • Write my business plan
  • Get my EIN for tax purposes
  • Get my AZ business license
  • Register the license with the city

I am sure that there are more things that I need to do, but those are just the ones at the top of my head.  I will be perfectly honest – I am terrified.  Absolutely and positively.  But, with encouragement and support from my husband, I will be open for business by the end of August.  That is my final date.

Keep an eye on this post as I accomplish my goals, and probably add more.  If you can think of any, please post them in the comments!
