Guns And Saguaros

Last spring, my hubby and I got to spend a little time with each other before our youngest arrived.  He loves to hunt and target practice, so we went out into the desert and shot at targets.  While we were out there, I decided to take some pictures of him shooting, to capture the shell being ejected from his gun.  I also took some pictures of the saguaros in the area.

This picture’s shutter speed was 1/2000, f-stop at 3.5. My focal length was 50mm.

The next three pictures are of a saguaro that I found on our way back to our house.  This picture’s shutter speed was 1/80, f-stop at 5.6. My focal length was 200mm.

For this picture, I am not sure which I like better – the top one without the super saturation of colors or the bottom one with the super saturation. What do you think? This picture’s shutter speed was 1/80, f-stop at 5.6. My focal length was 105mm.

Our Newest Addition

I know, I haven’t been keeping up with this blog.  To be fair, my kiddos have kept me extremely busy.  But, here is one picture of our newest addition to our family.

Lily was born June 2nd and has completed our family.  And yes, that is red hair.  Apparently, it runs in both sides of the family even though it hasn’t been seen in a couple of generations.

The pictures’ settings were 1/40, f-stop at 2.5. My focal length was 50mm.

Last Year’s Holiday Picture

I am going through pictures that I took last year and I realized that I never posted this one.  It is one of my favorites!  My husband is reading “The Night Before Christmas” to the kiddos, using just the Christmas tree’s lighting.  It was a lot of fun taking their pictures.  The only problem I have, is choosing which style I like best.  What do you think?

The pictures’ settings were 1/13, f-stop at 4.2. My focal length was 26mm.

Last Fall

I took this picture last November.  It became everyone’s Christmas present.  This year, I plan to do the same, except I will have another child in the picture – LilyAna.  The canyon where we took this picture isn’t too far from Tucson.  It is beautiful and nice and chilly too!  Nice and chilly around Tucson is VERY good!

This picture’s shutter speed was 1/125, f-stop at 4.5. My focal length was 26mm.

Happily Engaged

You might recognize the girl in these photos.  I just posted pictures of her family!  She decided that she liked what I did so much, that she wanted me to do her engagement photos as well.  She and her fiancee were so much fun and really willing to try anything.  They even got on top of the rock waterfall, BAREFOOT, for some interesting pictures!

I had such a hard time narrowing down which photos I would show here. It took a while, but I finally narrowed it down to six.

This picture’s shutter speed was 1/125, f-stop at 8. My focal length was 52mm.

This picture’s shutter speed was 1/320, f-stop at 5. My focal length was 105mm.

This picture’s shutter speed was 1/500, f-stop at 5.6. My focal length was 200mm.  This one, I wanted to do something special with it.  I think it was my most favorite picture of them.  They weren’t posing, they were being totally natural and whispering to each other.  It was such a sweet moment that I took extra time with the post-processing and made it look a bit, “nostalgic”.  That is why the colors look more like a 60′s or 70′s print than the other pictures do.

This picture’s shutter speed was 1/1600, f-stop at 5. My focal length was 55mm.

This picture’s shutter speed was 1/500, f-stop at 4. My focal length was 55mm.

This picture’s shutter speed was 1/160, f-stop at 5. My focal length was 68mm.
